Vicha Ratanapakdee was a victim of a brutal hate crime that occurred on January 28, 2021. The 84 year-old Thai man was violently attacked in broad daylight in San Francisco, CA. Ratanapakdee was pushed to the ground by a 19-year old man.

Unfortunately, Ratanpakdee suffered major injuries and passed away at the hospital. This hate crime is credited as a prominent cause for the Stop Asian Hate movement, which protests against racial discrimination toward Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, following the coronavirus pandemic.
